How Does Crime Solvers Work?
Crime Solvers works with the Montgomery County Police, Chevy Chase Village, Rockville, Gaithersburg, and Takoma Park police departments. When a police department presents a case and requests Crime Solvers to offer a reward to help them solve it, the Crime Solvers Board will act on that request and if accepted will offer a reward up to $1,000. The facts of the case will be furnished to the community though press releases and postings on our web site and the law enforcement agencies web site and if possible the news media.
Citizens with information about the particular crime are requested to call Crime Solvers at 1.866.411.TIPS (8477). This information will be passed on to the law enforcement agency with primary jurisdiction and if this information leads to an arrest and indictment, the caller is entitled to a reward of up to $1,000.
History of Crime Solvers of Montgomery County, MD
Crime Solvers was established in 1978 as the first in the Washington, DC metro area. Crime Solvers and celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2008.
Crime Solvers Vision Statement
Our Crime Solver Vision Statement is to grow our capabilities in Montgomery County through partnerships with the community, law enforcement, and businesses, based on the fact that someone knows something about a serious criminal act and the belief that good conscious will prevail, and information given anonymously and protected will have a positive outcome on solving crimes, reducing violence, and make the county a safer place to live, work and raise a family.
Crime Solvers Mission Statement
Our Crime Solver Mission is as citizens, to have an impact on the community to reduce crime by assisting law enforcement agencies solve crimes and prosecute offenders through the development of information based on tips provided by anonymous community members.
Crime Solvers Goals
· Building name recognition in the community and a reputation for maintaining the anonymity of the person(s) providing information. · Prompt payment to the community members for information leading to an arrest. · Establish, build, and improve upon open communications between Crime Solvers, law enforcement, community and businesses. · Promote our organization and its benefits to the community through press releases and media coverage, appearances at community events and activities such as National Night Out or the County Fair, and making presentations to clubs, community groups, businesses, and law enforcement.

Crime Solvers has been successful in helping Montgomery County Police solve many felony cases and recover thousands of dollars in stolen merchandise.
Who administers the program?
The Crime Solvers Board of Directors is comprised of concerned citizens of Montgomery County who oversee the operation of the program.
Who funds Crime Solvers?
Crime Solvers is an Independent Non-Profit Community Organization. Crime Solvers is funded by private donations of money, goods or services from members of the public, including individuals, corporations, clubs, associations, retailers, and other organizations.
